Upper Body Exercises

Basic Pushup

Arms and Chest

·         Lie on the floor with your hands placed just outside your shoulders.

·         Raise yourself up, keeping your back straight with your toes on the ground.

·         Lower your chest back to the ground, again, keeping your back straight.

·         Continue until your repetition goal is met.

If you find it difficult to do very many pushups in the beginning, try doing this pushup from your knees instead of your toes.  This makes the pushup a little easier.

I have had my kids ride on my back from time to time but have decided that it puts too much pressure on my back.  There are other variations of the pushup defined later in which your kids can actively participate by riding.  Nevertheless, encourage your kids to join you by doing pushups themselves.
