Conclusion
One morning as I returned
from my morning run, my wife met me at the door, holding my squirming son
Daniel. Although sweat was dripping off me, he wanted to jump into my arms.
Laughing, Janet and I reflected on how special he was to our family, as are all
our children; however, if it wasn’t for his coming into our family, I would not
have been out running that morning or even thinking about exercising. I thought
about how far I had come. My life has changed since Daniel’s heart surgery; I
hope it doesn’t take an event such as the one my family went through to get you
inspired.
Getting motivated allowed
me to achieve more than I ever expected. I don’t have a good “before” picture of
me, my belly hanging out, my pants bursting at the seams, like you see in the
diet ads. To be honest, I was a little embarrassed about my physique. I doubt
I would have wanted to pose for a picture. The real reason, however, that I
don’t have a good “before” picture is that I never expected such a dramatic
change when I first began the “fun.”
